Softride Bike Racks - Softride Dura Assist Access Review

Softride Bike Racks was established some 17 years ago when Ivor Allsop and his two sons decided one afternoon to design the first hitch mount bike rack and as a consequence Softride Access Bike Racks was born.

Their motivation came from the impossible task Ivor’s wife faced in hauling a bike onto the rooftop of their car. And so the goal was to design a bike rack that would be quick and easy to load bikes onto and at the same time be a rock solid safe carrier.

When the hitch mount at the back solved the problem there was still the challenge of how to get the hitch rack fixed at the back out of the way to allow perfect access into the back of the vehicle without needing to unload bikes or remove the bike rack.

This puzzle was solved with their revolutionary parallelogram design and was immediately patented by the family. This clever system enables the user to easily lower the rack away from the back of the vehicle without dropping the bikes onto the ground and as a result Softride Access Racks were born and the Allsop family have been at the forefront of hitch mount bike rack innovation ever since.

Softride realized early on that one problem when attaching a bike rack to a hitch receiver is the annoying rattle whilst driving. They rectified the ‘clanking’ that occurs by designing the tightening hitch pin which eliminates sway and stops rattling in the receiver whilst on the move.

Softride continue to introduce innovative designs to the market in their hitch mount bike racks that always maintain good access into the vehicle without unloading.
